2009

Thought leaders in the Urgent Care field gathered to discuss challenges facing the Urgent Care Industry. The group decided that a separate entity was needed to address training the next generation of clinicians in Urgent Care medicine and for increased research activities in the field of Urgent Care medicine  The College of Urgent Care Medicine did not yet exist.

2011

The Urgent Care Foundation was founded and incorporated in 2011. Trustees were recruited based on their credentials and expertise in Urgent Care medicine and their vision for the future success of Urgent Care as an essential part of the healthcare landscape.

  • First Fundraising Event: Footsteps for the Foundation Walk at UCA’s Annual Meeting 
  • Approved by IRS as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.

  • Granted 5-Year Cooperative Agreement with the Centers for Disease Control for improving Antibiotic Stewardship.

  • CDC Grant work focuses on Antibiotic Stewardship education for clinicians
